THE FILM
A FRAGILE TRUST tells the shocking story of Jayson Blair, a promising, young, African-American reporter who became entangled in a plagiarism scandal that brought the New York Times to what publisher Arthur Sulzburger dubbed a "low-point in the 152 year history of the paper." The Blair Affair, as the scandal came to be known, is at the most basic level a compelling, character-driven narrative about a significant chapter in American journalism. It is also a complex and multi-layered story about diversity, ethics, affirmative action, power, and responsibility in the media. Featuring exclusive interviews with all the key players involved, including Blair himself, A FRAGILE TRUST is the first feature length documentary to give a dramatic and entertaining account of the scandal while exploring these deeper themes.

THE PROJECT
A FRAGILE TRUST is funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting through the ITVS Open Call initiative and is slated for national broadcast on PBS in 2012. In addition to a feature length documentary, we're also developing a transmedia project that teaches media literacy while examining ethics and diversity in today’s fractured media landscape. The transmedia project centers on an alternate reality news game that engages audiences in an immersive journalism experience.
